Abstract

The drive mechanism for a circuit breaker has an electric motor (12) driving a cam (13) which depresses a spring-loaded lever (14). The lever is linked to a first shaft and rotates that shaft anticlockwise when the cam rotates clockwise. The first shaft (1) has a cam (15) that rotates another cam arrangement (16, 17) fixed to a second shaft. Both shafts are spring-loaded and parallel. The second shaft rotates clockwise and is linked via a rod (26) to the circuit breaker (30) contact closing mechanism. The contacts are held closed by a latch (19) engaging a notch (18) in the second shaft cam arrangement.
