Abstract
Selective magnetic sepn. of weakly magnetisable matls., e.g. rare minerals , is achieved by passing suitably pretreated matl. (ground, dried, sieved, etc.) to the magnet separator where magnetisable components exceeding a threshold in magnetisability are deflected to be discharged into special containers while the remaining matl. passes through the field to other receptacles. To increase field strength, the magnetic field is generated in the air gap between superconducting coils. The force acting on the matl. is increased by spatial configuration and electrical connection of several coils into multi-polar arrangements to achieve field inhomogenisation with formation of field gradient. Local force effiency is further increased by super-imposing a practically homogeneous magnetic field on the multipolar fields.
