Abstract

A number of rollers fixed to the same plate guide the tape past a cutter blade and along the lower, straight and horizontal edge of a pressure pad. a conveyor carrying the article which receives the adhesive strip runs parallel below the pressure pad. When an article is in the correct position, the dispensing head moves vertically downwards until a spring loaded clamping plate is in contact with the article. Further downward movement brings the adhesive strip which, also cut to length, is still attached to the backing tape, into contact with the article. The strip sticks to the article, and to assist its separation from the backing tape, jets of compressed air are directed onto its two ends. Cam operated control valves are used to achieve synchronization between conveyor movement and working cycle of the dispensing unit.
