Abstract

The clip is particularly for surgical use, e.g. clamping blood vessels, two of the sections forming the clamping jaws, while the third is a lever bearing against a cam portion on one of the jaws to force it against the other. A locking device, typically in the form of a toothes rack on an angled extension of the lever engaging with a projection on the body of the clip, holds it in the engaged position. The cam can be incorporated in the lever instead of the clamping jaw, and the locking mechanism can be mounted on opposite ends of the jaws. The lever can have a hook on the end engaging with the main part of the clip.
