Abstract

The bayonet mounting assembly, for a motor vehicle's headlight bulb, has an outer metal tube (1) to accept the lamp bulb's contact cap (2) and an axial contact post (5) inside this tube to touch the lamp cap's contact button (7). The walls of the tube are angled to form recesses (3) which accept the cap's radial locking projections (4). The axial post is held in position by an axially-elastic collar (10) filling the space between it and the lower part of the tube. The post's contact button (6) protrudes through a washer (11) pressed upwards by a spiral spring arrangement (12) between its underside and the top of the collar. Inserting the bulb compresses the spring and collar until the radial projections engage in the recesses.
