Abstract
Electrochemical element contains successively (I) a thin, electronically conducting cathodic collector, (II) a thin catholyte layer, (III) a thin separator layer, and (IV) a thin Li-contg. anode, II and III contg. a gel consisting of a polyvinyl acetal esp. polyvinyl formal, impregnated with a solvent e.g. propylene carbonate, and an ionically conducting salt e.g. potassium iodide, gives high energy discharges and yields.
