Abstract

L-epsilon-N-Acetyl lysine (I), L-lysine (II), and diamino pimelic acid (III) are prepd. by culture of a suitable microorganism in a nutritive medium contg. a paraffin hydro-: carbon or an acetic acid salt, the microorganisms being a mutant of Micrococcus, Brevibacteriu, Corynebacterium Arthrobacter, Nocardia or Mycobacterium, the mutant having no particular nutritional needs and being obtd. by previous culture of Gram positive bacteria in the presence of a lysine analogue and in a medium free from amonium salts and contg. nitrate salt(s) as source of nitrogen. (I) and (II) have similar nutritional value. The pref. microorganism is a mutant of Corynebacterium C91, (C91-MAT 52).
