Abstract
L-threonine and L-valine, which are important in the field of nutrition, are prepared by aerobically culturing a hydrocarbon-utilising microorganism, which require thiamine and also isoleucine, alpha-keto or alpha-amino butyric acids. The culture is effected in aqueous nutrient media containing the hydrocarbon as main carbon source and also thiamine and the other growth requisites. Preferred organisms for this process are Arthrobacter paraffineus ATCC 21220, Corynebacterium hydrocarboclastus ATCC 21221, and brevibacterium keto glutamicum ATCC 21222.
