Abstract

Various systems of anti slip detection and correction detect individual axle slips relative to locomotive speed and relative slip between axles. Correction is carried out to compensate for varying axle loads etc. The relative sensitivity of these depends on the actual construction of the anti slip gear and prevent full utilisation of locomotive power. Instead, the usual impulse counter system is used in conjunction with logic elements. The impulse generators produce variable frequency impulses and there is an equal number of counters. The whole system is automatic.
