Abstract

The plant is based on an elongated horizontal drum with inlet orifice centrally in one end wall and outlet in the centre of the other end wall and with a spiral guide plate on its inner cylindrical wall promoting intensive aeration and hence aerobic degradation. The trunnions from the drum shaft are carried on a pair of axially parallel floating portions such that the orifices at the ends of the drum are above liquid level of the into which the raw liquid is fed. It is transferred into the drum by a number of pick up scoops on the outside of the inlet end wall and treated liquid passes from the other end to an isolated sump and drawn.
