Abstract

In a process for making an anti-heat glass pane having a thin semi-reflecting metallic coating obtained by evaporation under vacuum, the coating is deposited in successive steps (1) using Cu, Au, or Ag, with or without a small proportion of Ni, and (2) using Al. The thickness of the successive layers may be controlled by measuring the diminution of luminous transmission during treatment. A supplementary layer (3) of SiO may be applied. Layers (1) and (2) may have total thickness 500 A, and layer (3) 1000-1500 A. Advantages are improved coating adherence, neutral colour, and timestable electric resistance of the coating. The glass is used in building, especially as composite panes.
