Abstract

Biochemical purification of industrial effluent contg. O2 bound in the form of hexavalent Cr cpds. or Ce cpds. or mixtures thereof, in which the effluent is mixed with an amount of domestic waste water, and after mechanical purification the mixture is led into a non-aerated container for simultaneous biochemical redn. of O2-contg. cpds. and biochemical oxidn. of the organic material, whereby the amount of domestic waste water mixed with the effluent is such that the BOD of the mixt. fed to the non-aerated container, exceeds the amount of bound O in the mixture by >=20 mg/l, and after the biochemical redn. the mixt. of waste water and active sludge is fed to a clarification plant and the sepd. inorganic O contg. sludge is recycled to the non-aerated container.
