Abstract

Device is intended for use when articles are treated on an endless conveyor and are fed in at a practically uniform speed but are discharged, after the treatment, in groups rather than at a uniform rate. The plant can be used for foodstuffs, e.g. freezing poultry; and consists of an insulated chamber contg. a chain conveyor comprising two endless chains, side by side, connected together by bars at regular intervals. The birds are suspended from pegs on these bars. The chains are guided through a drying section, after being loaded on the bars, at a uniform rate; drying is by currents of hot air and this prepares the birds for freezing. The latter pass through spring shutters to the freezing section where they are treated with currents of refrigerated air. In the discharging section the birds are automatically liberated from the support vars and fall into the outlet opening. A storage section can be incorporated before the discharging section.
