Abstract

Pulverulent material is charged into a chamber fitted with grill supports for the bed of material as it descends under gravity through the unit, and which forms the working volum of the unit together with the main walls. Thermal treatment gas passes through the grills and contacts the material, and the material flow is divided at the exit into separate streams across the width and the speed of travel of these is individually controlld. Used for heat treatment, e.g. drying, heating, calcining or cooling, with varying degree of treatment across bed being controlled.
