Abstract

Fertiliser is prepd from (1) superphosphoric acid containing polyphosphates, but no orthophosphates, and (2) water, by the following steps:-(a) the superphosphoric acid is placed in a reaction, (b) the acid is treated with ammonia at a temperature lower than about 98 degrees C to give solid ammonium polyphosphates and steam, and (c) the water is removed.
