Abstract
Ti Cl4 catalysed prepn of 1,1-chloro-fluoroethane from HF and vinyl chloride. M5-. By the reaction:- Ratio (II):(I) is 0.5-5:1, pref. 0.5-2:1, esp. 1:1; anhydrous (III) added as 1-20%, pref. 2-15% of mixture and temp. is 10-125 degrees C, pref. 20-100 degrees C; press. above atmospheric of 0-70 kg./cm2, pref. 1.75-35 kg./cm2; liquid phase. 80% conversion in 90.5% yield quoted for 5 mins. reaction time. Catalyst recoverable and reusable.
