Abstract

The promoter is used in the anionic polymerisation of lactam(s). Lactam-N-anions are formed by reaction between the lactam(s) and the promoter; the addition of catalysts such as lactam-metal compounds is therefore not necessary. The promoter considerably reduces the polymerisation time, often to 15 minutes.
