Preformed amylose film is placed on a cellulose substrate after moistening with water the surface of contact of the film and/or the substrate, and the combination of film and substrate is then subjected to pressure sufficient to fix the film firmly onto the substrate. For making greaseproof wrapping papers. The amylose is obtd. by fractionation of any type of starch into amylose and amylopectin, or may be starch contng. at least 50% of amylose.
