A drive arrangement for large rotary bodies, such as the inner cylinders of sugar diffusion towers, comprises a ring gear drive wheel 1 carried by a stationary plate 2 on which are mounted a circumferential series of hydraulic motors 3 supplied through lines 8, 9 by a common pump 5 driven by an electric motor 7, and each driving a pinion 4 meshing with the ring gear 1. The drive to each pinion may be direct as shown, or through a reduction gear.
