Abstract

A system for improving the road-gripping power of a car or lorry tyre, minimising the risks in slippery road conditions by automatically extending spikes or other skid-prevention means from the tyre's friction surface, and by concealing them in the tyre so as to avoid damaging the road's asphalt surfacing when there is no need to use them to improve friction. Each tyre functions either independently to suit the prevailing driving conditions, or in an either-or-/both- and-connection with the central control member. Manual control can also be considered. A.N.J.-IH automation operates according to a decision process based on an inertia gyro transmitter and a microprocessor, also on the actual triggering of the function and retraction of the spikes or other skid-prevention means by the use of a pressure generator arranged in the wheel hub. <IMAGE>
