Abstract

The invention relates to a double-wire former in a paper machine, the double-wire drainage zone of which commences at a forming gap G and which is essentially horizontal. The former comprises an upper wire loop 10 and a lower wire loop 20. The upper wire 10 is guided by a first forming roll 11A; 11B and the lower wire 20 by a breast roll 21, thereby defining the geometry of the forming gap G. After the gap G there is a first forming shoe 22, which is provided with curved R1 strip cover 22a inside the lower wire loop 20, following which the double-wire zone continues to be guided by the strips 17, 27 in the MB unit 40. The MB unit 40 comprises drainage compartments 15, 16, which are arranged inside the upper wire loop 10, the quantities of water that are removed through the upper wire 10 being led off to the side of the paper machine. The suction deflector channel 12 in connection with the front part of the first drainage chamber 15 of the MB unit 40 is directly defined by the cylinder shell 11a; 11b of the first forming roll 11A; 11B from the front side in the running direction of the wires 10, 20, and from the opposite side by the transverse wall 13 of the machine. <IMAGE>
