Abstract
Un método de preparación de copolímeros de ácidos vinilcarboxílicos y acrilatos de alquilo inferior seleccionados entre alquilato de metilo o acrilato de etilo, siendo la fórmula de los ácidos vinilcaboxílicos antes de la polimerización la siguiente: **(formula)** donde R es H o CH3 y A esta seleccionado entre iones de hidrógeno, amonio o metal alcalino; cuyo método consiste en polimerizar una solución acuosa del ácido vinilcarboxílico con el acrilato de alquilo inferior en un reactor tubular, a una presión comprendida entre 50 y 350 psig (3,5 y 24 kg/ cm2 manométrico), siendo dicha presión suficiente para mantener las sustancias reaccionantes en estado líquido, en presencia de un catalizador de radicales libres mientras se mantienen las condiciones de la reacción dentro de los limites indicados a continuación: I. sólidos monoméricos 20-50 en peso; II. Temperatura de iniciación, ºF (ºC) 80-180ºF (27-82 ºC); III. Ph del monómero 1,0-6,0; IV. Concentración del iniciador 2, 0-12% en peso (sobre el monómero); V. relación ponderal de acido vinilcarboxílico a acrilato de alquilo inferior 60/40 - 95/5; VI. Tiempo de permanencia 1-15 minutos. Teniendo el copolimero de acrilamida y acido vinilcarboxílico un peso molecular comprendido entre 3000 y 300000.
