Abstract
Improvements in apparatus for detecting and compensating for image defects, of the type used in systems for the reproduction of successive image recording that comprise a capture device to recover from said recording, carrier waves that have an instantaneous frequency subject to variations in a range of deviations given according to the amplitude of a video signal representative of images of a given bandwidth, there are random occasions during playback when the instantaneous frequency of the wave output of said capture means deviates from the range of given deviations; means for detecting frequency modulation coupled to said pick-up means, said detecting means comprising a low-pass filter having a pass band limited substantially to the bandwidth of the given video signal to provide a demodulated signal having an amplitude that normally corresponds to the amplitude of said video signal but which is subject to parasitic amplitude variations during said occasions of deviation of the frequency of the output wave from the range of given deviations, means to develop the exit sign; and means for normally supplying the demodulated output signal of said low pass filter to the means developing the output signal; characterized in that a first device coupled to the frequency modulation detecting means is arranged to develop an impulse when the instantaneous frequency of the wave output of said pick-up means falls in a frequency band above the range of deviations Dadaist; a second device coupled to said frequency modulation detecting means to develop a pulse when the instantaneous frequency of the wave output of said pick-up means falls in a frequency band below the given range of deviations; means, comprising an aggregator responsive to the outputs of said first and second pulse developing devices, for developing a fault indication signal indicative of deviations from said instantaneous frequency from the given range of deviations; means responsive to said defect indication signal to deactivate the supply of said demodulated signal.
