Abstract
Procedure for preparing 3,5-disubstituted pyrazoles, having the formula: **(See formula)** where R1 is **(See formula)** and R2 is **(See formula)** said Y, Y', Z and Z' each represent members selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, methylthio, methylsulfonyl, cyano, carboxyl, C1-C4 carboalkoxy, hydroxy, C1-C4 haloalkyl alkyl which it contains 1 to 4 halogen and C1-C4 alkoxy atoms; characterized in that it comprises the steps of: reacting approximately equimolar amounts of a compound having the formula R1COCH3 with a compound having the formula R2CHO, wherein R1 and R2 are as defined above, in the presence of a C1 alcoholic solvent -C4, at a temperature, which varies between approximately 10 and 70ºC; acidifying said reaction mixture to a pH of at least 7; treating the thus acidified reaction mixture with about 1.0 to 2.0 molar equivalents of hydrazine; adding to said reaction mixture a catalyst selected from the group consisting of palladium on carbon, platinum on carbon and pre-reduced chromite; heating said mixture to reflux temperatures; and recovering the desired 3,5-disubstituted pyrazole in good yield and purity.
