Abstract
A procedure for the preparation of esters or tetrazolyl acetic acids of the formula ** (See formula) ** where H is a hydrocarbon radical, C1 to C12 free of aliphatic unsaturation or a hydrocarbon-O- C1 to C12 radical free of aliphatic unsaturation and R'is hydrogen, C1 to C12 alkyl, C4 to C8 cycloalkyl, phenyl, tolyl, xylyl, benzyl, p-nitrophenyl, p-nitrobenzyl, phenylethyl, 2,2,2-trichlorethyl or phenacyl, the process of which is characterized by heating a mixture containing a compound of the formula: ** (See formula) ** where R is the one defined above, and a compound of formula: N3-CH2-COOR' where R'is defined above, at a temperature of about 80 to about 135ºC, for a time sufficient to form the ester or tetrazolacetic acid.
