Abstract
Improvements in the construction of apparatus for treating solid materials, comprising a heating chamber and a hearth in said chamber, an outlet for the material centrally located in said hearth, means for discharging material into the hearth at a point near the periphery of the same to form a layer of material in said hearth, means for moving said material through the hearth to the outlet of the one whose apparatus presents the improvement comprising: rotating sealing means that surround said material outlet; a substantially vertical chamber hanging from said vertical sealing means and communicating with the material outlet, said chamber being substantially non-rotating, and stopping means intended to retain said solid materials for a controlled period of time, with the internal base underneath of a portion of said vertical chamber.
