Abstract

A process for the preparation of a curable elastomeric composition characterized in that it comprises, preferably in the indicated order, the steps of: a) Mix: 1. A particular solid coagulant capable of collecting water with 2. a substantially non-volatile hydrophobic organic liquid, optionally containing an emulsion stabilizer, and which is compatible with said elastomer and effective in delaying the solidification of said composition; b) Optionally, add one or more fillers to the composition c) Intimately mix the above combination with an aqueous dispersion of a natural or synthetic elastomer that optionally contains an emulsion stabilizer; d) Optionally, adding an aqueous dispersion of a thermoplastic material to the composition in a proportion of up to 100 parts per 100 of rubber, either incorporating it into the elastomer dispersion before step c) or incorporating it separately into the composition and e) Optionally, incorporate into the composition one or more antioxidants, antiozonizers, acid acceptors, vulcanizing agents, thickening or suspending agents, or silicones. f) Allow the mixture to solidify, forming a hardened composition.
