Abstract
Improvements in vacuum-actuated units for ignition distributors, characterized in that the unit includes a housing, a diaphragm that divides the housing into first and second chambers, a stem slidably housed in the first chamber, the stem being fixed by a end to the diaphragm and extending from its first end from the first chamber to engage the distributor, so that the axial movement of the stem varies the timing of the distributor, a first and a second conduit that communicate with the first and second chambers respectively, elastic means within one of the chambers to oppose the movement of the diaphragm in a direction in which the volume of said chamber is reduced, and sealing means that act between the wall of the first chamber and the stem to seal the first chamber while allowing relative movement between the stem and the wall of the prim it was a camera; said sealing means including a first annular part in sealing cooperation with the wall of the first chamber and a second elongated annular part that surrounds and spaced the stem, the second annular part being elastic and including a zone of reduced diameter that grips the stem tightly enough to seal the sandwich between the second annular portion and the stem, while allowing relative sliding motion between the second annular portion of the sealing means and the stem.
