Abstract

Sliver is fed into a container 12 in a plurality of loops 32 (Fig. 2) by apparatus comprising a base 140, a calender roll assembly 14 for feeding the sliver, supported by the base, first drive means for rotating the calender roll assembly about an axis 20 offset from the container axis 28, second drive means for rotating the calender roll assembly about the axis 28, and means for adjusting the distance between these two axes.
