Abstract

A high-voltage line comprises sections of conduit comprising inner and outer conductors 3, 1 joined by respective inner and outer coupling members 5, 6, the inner and outer conductors being spaced by annular insulators 2, and the inner conductor being insulated by gas, e.g. SF 6 . The coupling members 5 comprise plates 14, 16 welded into the ends of the conductors 3, and flexible conductors 15 which are screened by tubes 33 slidable on conductors 3. The outer coupling members 6 are welded and sealed to flanges 7 on the outer conductors 1, or are secured by annular segments (47), Fig. 7 (not shown), engaging grooves in the coupling members. The insulators 2 have conducting inserts (17, 18) and are sealed to the conductors 3.
