Abstract

Each side wall of a covered railway wagon comprises a central and two outer sliding doors 7 and 6 which are coplanar when closed, the central door 7 having running and guide rollers 19, 21 received by running and guide rails 23, 25 inflected at the position which the rollers 19, 21 occupy when the door 7 is closed (see Fig. 3), and each outer door 6 being outwardly displaceable by an opening device 29 so that running and guide rollers 18, 20 are positioned in running and guide rails 24, 26 inflected adjacent the wagon ends. The opening device 29 comprises a toothed segment 50 supported by the door 6 and bearing a claw 51 which abuts a stud 52 on the wagon frame, the segment 50 being rotated to displace the door outwardly by means of a further toothed segment 48 and a chain 45 on lifting a lever 40. Each outer door 6 is fastened to the wagon frame, when closed, by means of a fastening device 28. The fastening device 28 comprises claws 37 which enter counter bearings 39 on the wagon frame when a lever 30 is lifted. The lever 30 is attached to a shaft 31 bearing a fork 32 which engages a stud 33 to rotate torsion bars 34 on which the claws 37 are mounted. A two position stop device 27 is mounted at each end of the central door. In one position, the device 27 blocks movement of the door 7 and in the other position it blocks operation of the fastening device 28 and the opening device 29 of the adjacent door 6.
