Abstract

Apparatus for texturising yarns comprises means providing paths for continuous yarn travel, e.g. sley bars 22, 32 and 36, means defining a twist zone, means 24 for continuously applying false twists to the yarns in the twist zone, and means, e.g. heater 27 for setting twisted yarns in the twist zone, the apparatus being characterised in that the false twist means 24 comprise continuously oppositely movable belt runs 48, 51 for frictionally engaging and twisting yarns, and said runs comprise means for simultaneously offsetting the plurality of yarns conveyed therebetween from their respective yarn paths. The yarns are offset laterally from their respective paths. One of the belt runs is disposed slightly upstream relative to the other of said runs. The twist zone is defined by pairs of nip rolls 25, 26 and 52, 53. In a preferred embodiment the source of yarns is offset in a direction opposite to the direction of travel of the upstream belt run.
