Abstract

A cable gripping device for haulage or holding equipment has a pair of jaws 1, 2 pivotally mounted on two pairs of parallelogram linkages formed by links 9a, 10a, 7a, 8a and 9c, 10c, 7c, 8c and the corresponding sets on the other side of the jaws by cylindrical spindles 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b passing through the jaws and opposed pairs of links 7a, 8a, 7c, 8c. The pairs of links 8a, 8c are integral with levers 13a, 13c pivoted to the opposed casing plates 15a, (15b) by spindles 14a, 14b and the pair of links 7a are integral with operating levers 19a, (19b) joined by spindles (20). The pairs of links 9a, 9c are joined by plates 16a, (16b) pivotally connected to the spindles 11a, 11c while a spring 21 acts between a pin 23 fixed to the casing and a pin 24 fixed between the pair of levers 13c, 13d.
