Abstract

An oxy-acetylene blowpipe assembly includes needle valves having needles 17, 18, 19 controlling the flow of acetylene, air and oxygen respectively, the needles being secured to a yoke 10 movable by a piston 2 sliding in a cylinder 3 and controlled by means of a valve 6 which introduces air into the cylinder via duets 4, 5 and an electrical igniter for the blowpipe is controlled through a contact 40 which comes into contact with the yoke 10 as the valves are opened. In a modification, the upper end of needle 18 operates a microswitch or a cam fixed to the yoke 10 co-operates with a roller of a microswitch.
