Abstract
A pneumatic conveyer system storage and transport cell 1 comprises a tubular centre section 3 made of a plastic selected from the group consisting of rubber resin polymers, polycarbonates, polysulphone, polyphenylene oxide and polyacetals, and two end covers 2, 4 made of an impact and wear resistant polymeric material selected from the group consisting of nylon having a 1À5% or less moisture absorption at 50% relative humidity and polytetrafluoroethylenes (e.g. 6À10 nylon), in which at least one of the end covers is removably mounted on the centre section. The latter having a rectangular cross-section, is provided with grooves 5 moulded integrally in opposite walls, for receiving film or tape data chips. Grooves 15 on opposite walls and a ledge 8 around three sides of the section 3, provide a seating on to which the cover 2 is slid transversely of the section 3, raised bars 16 on the cover engaging the grooves 15. When in position, the covers 2, 4 project beyond the walls of the centre section 3 to receive all the wear during transportation through the pneumatic tube. The cover 2 is spring locked in position on the section 3, which spring may be released by contact therewith through an aperture 29 in the cover 2.
