Abstract

A web of material intended for the manufacture of packages in which goods are to be deepfrozen comprises a plastics foil layer and a metallic heat-conducting layer, the web being provided with "windows" formed by the use of transparent plastics film at each window area, and by omitting, or reducing the thickness of, the metallic layer at each window, the area of each window being not greater than one third of the adjacent or surrounding area of non- transparent film which, with the window, is to form the wall of a package. The web may comprise two plastics foil layers secured together by a bonding agent e.g. polyurethane or epoxy resin, in which aluminium-bronze, which constitutes the heat-conductive layer, is dispersed. Alternatively the web consists of a heat-conductive coating applied to one face of a plastics foil. The plastics material may be polyethylene, polypropene, p.v.c., or polyvinylidene chloride, and if a laminate is used different plastics materials may be combined.
