Abstract
An electrical connector comprises a sheet metal contact portion 1, V-shaped in crosssection, having a slot 2 providing a pair of flat prongs 3 with chamfered edges (4) which may be parallel or may converge towards mouth 6. The contact portion may mate with a similar one (Fig. 3, not shown) or with a flat twopronged contact portion (Fig. 5, not shown) and may be formed integral with a connecting member (1, Fig. 3, not shown) for engaging the edge of a printed circuit board. In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) prongs (30) with bent out end extensions (40) providing a mouth (60), are joined by twisted leg portions (80) to a flat plate (70), the planes of the prongs (30) defining an angle of 90 degrees. On mating with a similar contact portion, (Fig. 8, not shown) each prong (30) deflects by 45 degrees relative, to its initial plane. A plurality of mating pairs of connectors may be mounted in a pair of insulating blocks.
