Abstract
The process of Specification 1,092,400 for hydrocracking hydrocarbon oils is modified in that the fluorine content of the catalyst is adjusted to, or maintained at, at least 3.5% by weight by adding at least one fluorine compound to the feed. The fluorine compound may be HF and/or at least one compound which is converted into HF under the reaction conditions, e.g. fluorobenzene or fluorotoluene, and is preferably added continuously in amount 5 to 50 p.p.m.w. calculated on the hydrocarbon oil to be cracked. The feed preferably has a water content of 50 to 1000 p.p.m.w.
