Abstract
A continuous heat treatment furnace in which the work is supported on gas jets within the furnace, is divided into two heating sections. In a cooling section, in each of which gas from a fan 33 is supplied through a manifold 34 to upper and lower pairs of parallel air ducts 14 and 17 respectively supplying chambers 8 and 20 and 11 and 22, each duct having its own damper 35 and 36. By this construction. when narrow strip or separate strips are being treated part of the supporting gas cushion can be cut off to improve stability of the work. Where necessary a burner 32 opens out into a heating chamber (not shown). A chain conveyer 43 may support the work along one edge thereof.
