Abstract

A disc brake consists of a disc 1 which is provided with a pair of opposed annular grooves 2 adjacent its periphery, and a pair of pads 3, 4 of corresponding wedge section which are carried by pistons 6 working in hydraulic cylinders 7 whereby on supplying fluid to the cylinders the pads are moved axially to engage within the grooves. The cylinders 7 are formed in limbs 5 of a fixed caliper which is in two parts joined together by bolts 8 (Fig. 3, not shown).
