Abstract

In a heated head 1 of an ironing press which has a substantially rod-like heating element or elements 2 and in which first steam and then cooling air is supplied through the working plate 3 to the article pressed onto the table or back, a channel 4, 5 for the cooling air is arranged to discharge the cooling air closer to the working plate 3 than the heating elements 2. The outlet of the channel is preferably outwardly flared and a non-return flap valve 9 may be provided. The channel may be covered by a cap 11 with air passages therein.
