Abstract

A filter for fluid comprises: a baseplate 1, 17 of plastics material having a central aperture and at least one aperture 6 remote from the central aperture means, e.g. a screwthreaded sleeve portion 2, for releasably securing the baseplate to a receiving means 3 a filter cartridge 7 fixed to the baseplate a transverse sleeve 13 with openings 14 extending through the cartridge and communicating with the central aperture a top plate 12 of plastics material fixed to the cartridge and an outer jacket 16 of plastics material spaced apart from and covering the cartridge and fixed to the baseplate. The sleeve 13 may be an extension of sleeve portion 2 as shown, or it may be a perforate tube connected to it. The cartridge 7 is fixed to the baseplate preferably by a layer 10 of cast and polymerised plastics material (e.g. a polyester). This layer may extend into a groove 11 in the sleeve portion 2, as shown, or it may abut a rubber gasket fitted in the groove. The jacket 16 terminates in a moulding 18 which fits in a groove 19 in part 17 of the baseplate it may be sealed therein by rotating the jacket in contact with the groove, under pressure, the friction-produced heat ensuring a welded connection. Fluid enters at 4, 6, and leaves at 5.
