Abstract

A sleeve 9 (Fig. 2), is secured to a valve flap 3 and a bag wall 4 by a continuous weld d so that the bag may be filled only through the sleeve 9 and a slit 5 in the bag wall. The slit 5 may be straight or have a broken line or curved configuration. A sheet of non - thermoplastic material may be placed in the sleeve to prevent the opposing faces being welded to each other. After filling, the sleeve 9 may be closed by folding, welding, gluing or adhesive tape. The bag may be made of polyethylene, jute, cotton, paper, metal or a laminate. An extended portion on the sleeve 9 adjacent the base of the valve pocket may be inserted into the bag via the slit 5 to facilitate filling,
