Abstract

a) Self-locking clamp making it possible to exert a tension on sheet metal. b) This clamp comprises two jaws 1 hinged one on top of the other at an intermediate point along their length. Between the ends of the jaws, which ends are opposite to their gripping ends, there is provided an expansion wedge (7) carried by a component (8) intended to be coupled with the tension element of this clamp, for example a chain or a tension cable. Furthermore the gripping jaws 1 comprise, on their inner faces, ramps 10 capable of cooperating with this expansion wedge 7. c) This clamp may be used to exert a tension on the metal sheets of an automobile body with a view to straightening them, this being done by means of jacks or other suitable equipment.
