Abstract

A wheel (12) of the rolling element comprises spaced-apart tread rims (22) intended to drop into gaps between ribs (21) of a conveyor belt (20), whereby an annular brake body (23) arranged between the tread rims (22) is pressed up to engage a brake block (27) secured to wheel fork (10) to brake the rolling element. The brake body (23) may have meshingly interengageable locking teeth (24, 28), or wedge-groove interengagment or annular grooves to increase engagement, also the body may be centred by resilient centring members on a ring. Various embodiments of the wheel (which may be a castor) are shown utilising tyre ports (18) and wheel body (17).
