Abstract

A process for sealing containers made of glass or the like uses sealing disks which adhere to the mouth of the container opening. For this purpose the sealing disks are given a pressure-sensitive adhesive and are part of an adhesive-coated band of foamed plastic. The band is laminated on a carrier strip that detaches from the adhesive layer. The sealing disks are prepunched from the side of the band away from the carrier strip, the punching depth being less than the thickness of the adhesive-coated band.
