Abstract
Improvements introduced into patent of invention number P- 9400938/4, for "External short-circuit device for telephone-equipment protection modules and the like". The device, applicable in tripolar gas dischargers 2 as means of protection which establish a short-circuit in the event of heating, exhibits the feature of including a solid-state element 8 and a melting conductor element 9 placed back to back and interposed between a conducting elastic part 5 in contact with the earth electrode 4 of the discharger 2 and an extension 7 of the conducting strip 3 connected to the respective live electrode of the discharger 2 such that, via the said solid-state element, a reduction in the residual wave is achieved to a value which will be withstood comfortably by the equipment to be protected when an abrupt and instantaneous voltage rise occurs. Moreover, excessive heating will cause melting of the melting element 9 establishing the corresponding short-circuit.
