Abstract

External short-circuit device for protection modules of telephone and similar equipment. The short-circuit device is applicable to that type of module used in protecting telephone and similar equipment, basically consisting of three-pole gas spark gaps. The device consists of the earth contact 4 of the spark gap transversely holding and securing a flexible part 7 whose ends are pressed against upper extensions 5 of the contact plates 3 belonging to the appropriate active electrodes of the spark gap 2 between these ends of the part 7 and the extensions 5 of the contact plates 3 there is an insulating and fusing element 6, which, when it reaches a specified temperature, melts producing the electrical connection between the earth contact and the transmission line contacts, diverting the relevant transient to earth.
