EN PARTICULAR, SE DESCRIBEN METODOS PARA AISLAR ACIDO NUCLEICO DE UNA MUESTRA QUE CONTIENE UNA MEZCLA BIOLOGICA DE ACIDO NUCLEICO Y OTROS COMPUESTOS BIOLOGICOS DONDE LA MUESTRA SE COMBINA CON UNA SOLUCION DE EXTRACCION QUE CONTIENE AL MENOS UN COMPUESTO ORGANICO COMO BENCILALCOHOL O UN DERIVADO DE BENCILALCOHOL PARA FORMAR UNA FASE ACUOSA O NO ACUOSA. EL ACIDO NUCLEICO SE AISLA DE LA FASE ACUOSA. PREFERENTEMENTE LA SOLUCION COMBINADA RESULTANTE CONTIENE TAMBIEN BENTONITA, COMO SE DEFINE POSTERIORMENTE. TIPICAMENTE, LA MUESTRA SE COMBINARA EN PRIMER LUGAR CON UN AGENTE DE LITICO ANTES DE LA EXTRACCION.
