Abstract

A gas valve with safety means to control the supply of gas to a gas burner comprising: an axially movable control shaft (6) a safety valve (11) with an electromagnet powered by a thermocouple and a valve member (12) on an axially movable setting rod (12a) forming an angle with the control shaft (6) and a system (16) for the transmission of axial movement between the shaft (6) and the rod (12a), comprising: a setting lever (17) freely pivotable and co-operating with the valve (12) so that rotation of the lever (17) results in contact with the safety valve member, moves the latter into the open position, resilient return means (22 12b) associated with the lever (17) to return it to the position of rest in which the safety valve member (12) is in the closed position, and a drive lever (25) interposed between the lever (17) and the free end (6a) of the shaft (6) so that an axial movement of the shaft (6) is accompanied by pivoting of the lever (17).
